Q-01: How are the workshop levels defined?
A-01: It is very hard to define the level of individual dancers. Nevertheless, the levels are approximately estimated as follows.
Improvers: 2 months ~ 6 months of learning and dancing experience.
Intermediate: 6 months ~ 2 years of learning and dancing experience.
Advanced: Over 2 years of learning and dancing experience.
Master: Advanced dancers aimed on becoming amateur or professional dancers.
All levels: includes improvers ~ master level. Obviously the material will be useful for dancers of all levels.
Q-02: Can I choose a level higher than mine?
A-02: As said, it is very hard to define the levels. Therefore, participants should feel encouraged to take courses one level above or below your estimated level.
Q-03: What happens if I do not have a partner for workshops?
A-03: We tend to balance the quantity of men and women in classes by setting a discount for paired registration. This does not mean, however, that they need to be partners during the class. We have a mutual understanding with the Masters that change of partners during the class should be constant. In fact, for most of the classes (not including special topics like jumps), changing partners seems to be positive for the learning process.
Q-04: Can I videofilm or take photos during the class?
A-04: Since videofilming and taking photos might be distracting during class, these are restricted to the Taipei Tango Festival personnel only. At the end of each class we will ask the Masters to do a review where participants are allowed to film or take photos. Nevertheless, the Masters shall have the final decision whether to do the review or not.
Q-05: Can I videofilm or take photos during the dance exhibitions?
A-05: Videofilming during the dance exhibitions (including videofilming with digital cameras or mobile phones) is restricted to the Taipei Tango Festival personnel only. Photos are allowed with no flash. The main purpose for this restriction is to have people let aside the camcorders and fully enjoy the exhibitions.
Q-06: What would the price be if I am not taking all the classes with the same partner?
A-06: We recommend that you take all the classes with the same partner. However, we accept the following as well:
1. To take some classes with a partner and some alone, you could enjoy discount only for those classes that you take with a partner. For example,
Person A takes #2, 3, 10, 16, 18 (5 workshops)
Person B takes #2, 3, 10, 16, 18 (with Person A) and 8, 14, 19 (no partner)
Then Person A have to pay NT900*5 for 5 classes, and Person B have to pay NT800*5 + NT900*3 for 8 classes.
2. To take some classes with a partner and some with another, for example,
Person A takes #2, 3, 10, 16, 18 (5 workshops)
Person B takes #2, 3, 10, 16, 18 (with Person A) and 8, 14, 19 (with Person C)
Then Person B have to pay NT800*8 for 8 classes.
3. In case 2, if Person B only take 2 classes with Person C, for example,
Person A takes #2, 3, 10, 16, 18 (5 workshops)
Person B takes #2, 3, 10, 16, 18 (with Person A) and 8, 14, (with Person C) and 19 (no partner)
Then Person B cannot have discount for classes 8, 14 and 19 since the minimum is to take 3 classes with the same partner.
Q-07: Is it required to take the master classes with a partner?
A-07: For all classes we are open to couple and single registration, because we want to leave the opportunity to learn for all participants of the festival. However, for some classes like “jumping techniques, it is recommended that you take it with a partner. To find a partner you could utilize the message board of Taipei Tango Group http://groups.msn.com/TaipeiTango/messageboard.msnw.
