Akiyoshi & Noriko Tanada - from Tokyo

Akiyoshi and Noriko started dancing Tango 19 years ago and established "TANGO PROJECT JAPAN". They have organized many shows with japanese famous tango orchestra. Since then they have been going to Buenos Aires every year to further their understanding of Tango. Over their career they have taught numerous classes and danced in numerous shows. In 2001 they started organizing the annual Tango Week in Tokyo, which have brought many top-notch Argentinian dancers to the Japanese community. They are also the stage champion of the 2006 Asia Tango Championship in Tokyo.

Director, choreographer and dancer of Argentine tango in Japan, Gyu was Champion of Tango World Championship 2007 in Asia. He studies ballet, contemporary dance, theater of arts, and Argentine tango. He has been organizing milongas and giving classes in Tokyo since 2005 and is one of the leaders of new tango generation in Japan.

Leonel Chen & Florencia Han - from Seoul

Florencia (Hwayi) studied ballet in high school and college, and subsequently worked as a professional musical actress for 8 years. In 2004, she participated in the World Tango Championship in Buenos Aires and won second prize in the stage section. Leonel (Hung-Yut) grew up in Hong Kong but spent most of his adult life in the United States. In 2002, he won first prize at the USA Tango Contest in Los Angeles. He met Florencia in Korea in 2005, soon thereafter they began their partnership. Together they are very active in promoting Argentine Tango culture in Korea. Besides teaching, performing, and organizing milongas, they have also invited Javier Rodriguez and Andrea Misse to Seoul for annual workshops since 2007. Leonel is also a reputable DJ. He plays music regularly in Seoul, and has been invited to DJ at various Tango festivals inside and outside of Korea. In 2009 they started organizing the Seoul Tango Festival.

Carlos Lee & Marianne Ghil - from Seoul

Carlos LEE
Professional tango dancer, instructor, and DJ. Carlos studied in Centro Educativo del Tango de Buenos Aires and Academia del Tango (2005~2007), and studies with Carlos Puente who is one of the best historian of Tango Golden Age (2005~Present). He was DJ at Lujos, a very traditional milonga in Buenos Aires (2007), and also DJ of the gran milonga of National Tango’s Day in Buenos Aires (2007~2008).

Raymond & Lily

Raymond and Lily started Tango in 2003 and have devoted to Tango since then. They are very dedicated amateurs and have learnt Tango from many masters from Argentina with extended visits to Buenos Aires. They started teaching since 2006 and have been invited to perform in various occasions, including Taipei Tango Festival 2005, Seoul Tango Festival 2009 etc. They are very active in promoting Argentine Tango, organizing Practica Otro and Outdoor Milongas in Hong Kong. In September 2008, they participated in the World Stage Tango Championship in Korea and got into the semi-final round of the competition amongst many professional tango dancers from all over the world.

Maeve has been in love with Argentine Tango for over 6 years. In order to nurture this love further, in 2007, she made her "pilgrimage" to the birthplace of tango, Buenos Aires, where she was invited to perform with Orquesta Color Tango 'live' at the popular Salon Canning in Buenos Aires. She was also invited to perform at both the 1st (2008) and 2nd (2009)Kuala Lumpur Tango Festival. Over the years, her passion for tango has spurred her on to explore and undertake other roles in the Singapore tango community as milonguera, DJ, and instructor. Maeve is currently a resident DJ and instructor at Abrazos, the first and only pure Argentine Tango academy in Singapore.

Daniel Liu & Stacy Jou - from Taipei

Daniel and Stacy are two of the pioneer Tango dancers in Taiwan. They founded the Taipei Tango Association in 2000 along with Taipei tango lovers and in 2008 they opened the Tanguísimo Tango Space - a multifunctional venue for milongas, lessons, cultural talks and all kinds of tango activities. Having taught Tango for 9 years they have made outstanding contributions to the growth of Tango in Taiwan. Since 2003 they have been organizing the annual Taipei Tango Festival, which has become one of the most important Tango events in east Asia. Their dance style is elegant and refined, and they have been invited to teach and perform in Japan, Hong Kong, Shanghai, as well as the 2008 Sitges Tango Festival.
Derrick Lee & Agnes Tang - from Taipei

Derrick and Agnes have been partners since they were studying in National Taiwan University and have been dancing tango together for many years. They have studied tango from masters in many different places, such as Argentina, United States, France, Italy, Germany, Portugal, Turkey...etc. In spite of having their respective professions, they are professional tango dancers, teachers and choreographers giving regular tango lessons, performances and workshops in Taiwan. They have been invited for speeches, workshops and performances in several countries such as Japan, China, Hong Kong and also interviewed by a lot of media and press. In year 2006, they participated in Asian Tango Championship in Tokyo and won the Creative Expression prize and also entered semi-final round in Argentine Tango Championship.Their vibrant and breezy dance is always popular and their interpretation of tango along with interactions with each other make a very unique and impressive style.
 

Gustavo Lin & Weining Chen - from Taipei

Gustavo Lin started to promote tango in Taipei 9 years ago. To feel more about tango and learn with masters, he has visited B.A multiple times. Weining Chen is a professional modern dancer & choreographer for 7 years. She started to tango in 2005. Gustavo & Weining met each other in a milonga at 2006. Because of the warming embrace, they decided to partner and dance together. Now they teach and share their tango passion in Taiwan and other countries like Hong Kong, Korea, Italy. They wish more Asian know Tango and enjoy the Tango life--Music, Embrace & Friends.

Susan Su - from Taipei (dancing with Gyu)

Susan is currently dancer, teacher and associate of the Tanguisimo Tango Space, Taipei. Having studied all kinds of dances including ballet, jazz and chinese dance, she fell in love with tango since 1998. In 2000 she co-founded the Taipei Tango Association and has since been teaching tango in Taipei. She has traveled to several cities to participate in tango activities, including a trip to Buenos Aires in 2004.

Ronald Li is a professional MC and has been the host at many international events such as the World Games 2009 Kaohsiung, 2009 Vietnamese Cultural Festival, etc. This is his second time to be the host at the Chinese Style Milonga and the Grand Milonga of the Taipei Tango Festival.
Doreen Chu

This year is Doreen's forth time to be the MC of Chinese Style Milonga and Grand Milonga in the Taipei Tango Festival. She used to host regular milongas at Olala, Shadow and the Bue Museum in Taiwan, and is currently one of the guest DJs at Tanguisimo Tango Space and Milonga Esencia.
